Keeping your PWA up-to-date using SEO, SMS, MMS, and NFC can make it hard to GSD. Did that sentence give you FOMO? Jumping into tech can be daunting especially with all the acronyms floating around like alphabet soup. Have no fear. We’ve broken out some of the most-used acronyms so JKS (Just Keep Swimming).
PWA-- Progressive Web AppPWAs are Lumavate’s specialty! These are apps that are hosted on a URL, much like a website. They are easily accessible to your users via text or QR codes. Basically, PWAs are everything you love about native mobile apps combined with the benefits of the web. All of the cool kids are building PWAs like Starbucks, West Elm, and Twitter (just to name a few 😉 ). With Lumavate, marketers can create an app without writing a single line of code!
QR code-- Quick Response Code
A QR code is a two-dimensional barcode that contains information users can quickly access via their smartphone camera. With Lumavate, a user can scan a QR code and easily access your PWA. QR codes have made a big comeback in the last few years, even Grandma knows how to use them! And spoiler alert: their potential goes way beyond providing consumers access to restaurant menus.
NFC-- Near-field CommunicationNFC is a technology that allows users to safely share information, make a transaction and connect devices by touching their device to another. Think Apple Pay, paying your grocery tab with a tap of your phone, that’s NFC!
SMS-- Short Message Service
I’ll bet you’re more familiar with this one than you’d think. SMS allows users to send texted-based messages via a cellular network. Hear that ping on your phone? It’s your friend asking if you want to go to dinner.
MMS-- Multimedia Messaging Service
MMS uses the same technology as SMS, but it allows users to send multimedia messages (think pictures, videos, and voice recordings). Hear another ping on your phone? It’s a video of your friend’s dog chasing her tail.
SEO-- Search Engine Optimization
If you’re a marketer, you probably have a love/hate relationship with this next one. SEO is all about getting the right people and more of them to your website via a search engine. This can be done by including keywords your audience is searching for on Google in your content. Additionally, you can reach out to your network to ask to link back to your content (if it makes sense, of course). Pro-tip: bring your patience with SEO. It’s all about the long game.
GSD-- Get Sh*t Done
We’re all here for the same reason, we want to get sh-- eh-hem, stuff, done. We want to build envy-inducing marketing campaigns, an app to better serve our audience, and an endless list of other projects. We want to make someone’s life a little easier! If only there were a maximum of Zoom meetings in a day...
FOMO-- Fear Of Missing Out
We’ve all been there, working hard to GSD and you hear people laughing in the conference room next door (or your kitchen since it’s 2021). FOMO is that feeling in your gut of wanting to be there instead of at your desk or wanting to try the latest MarTech everyone’s been talking about on LinkedIn. Recognize that feeling and run with it. No one wants to be the last one to the party when it comes to solutions to elevate your work.
Trust us, these are not all of the acronyms you’ll come across while wading through the waters of tech but now you’ll have a little less FOMO and you’ll be able to GSD a little faster!
