I'll be honest with you...I haven't printed off a boarding pass in two years. Thanks to airlines like United and Delta, QR technology is making the passenger experience better by bypassing paper passes and saving a few trees along the way.
QR, or Quick Response, codes were originally invented to help the Japanese automotive industry identify car parts. In the early 2000's, the technology wasn't well received, thanks to many brands overusing it or redirecting users to download an app to scan codes. With scanning ability already native in smartphone cameras today, QR technology is quickly becoming a part of major brands— airline carriers, eScooter companies and more are using the tech to create seamless customer experiences.
