Episode #000
We had BIG plans for the podcast at the beginning of 2020. We were going to completely change the podcast brand, overhaul the show focus, and so much more. And we had only planned on taking a hiatus for a few months at the beginning of the year and then coming back with the new podcast in the spring. Let’s just say 2020 hasn’t gone exactly as planned for the podcast or anyone’s marketing plans overall. The good news is that we’re finally ready to introduce you to our new podcast brand that is countless months in the making...REAL MARKETERS. Each week, we’re going to interview marketers who move fast, ask for forgiveness rather than permission, get sh*t done, have tons of crazy ideas, and drive incredible results. Trust us...it’s going to be the best 30 minutes of your week.

Stephanie Cox: 2020 has been an interesting year, to say the least. At the beginning of the year, we had planned to launch the second season of Mobile Matters in the spring, and then COVID- 19 happened. And like most marketers, we pretty much threw our marketing plans out the window and started over. But it gave us time to step back and really think about what we wanted to do with the podcast. And let's just say, I might have had a crazy idea and we may have decided to make some changes. So let's talk about those. First, we're saying goodbye to Mobile Matters, the name and the mission. Now I still love mobile and I love talking to marketers about their mobile strategies. And trust me, that's not going to go away, but it felt like it was time to broaden the discussion topics on the show and the guests that we have on. And that's where this idea of real marketers started to come in. I am so tired of listening to other marketing podcasts or virtual events where marketers talk about how wonderful everything is and share these ridiculous results without actually talking about how they did any of it or the other initiatives that they previously launched that failed miserably. I guess you can say I'm tired of these boring fireside chat sessions that everyone seems to do these days. Now, if you haven't figured it out, I'm a no-nonsense person. I ask forgiveness, definitely not permission. I believe speed is better than perfection, I love crazy ideas, and I like to work with people who get sh*t done. So I started thinking, what if the podcast focused on marketers like me? The marketers who want to share what works, what doesn't, and what they still don't know. What if our show gave you 30 minutes a week with some of the best marketers in the world, the ones with the crazy ideas who are breaking all the rules and truly getting shit done. That's what Real Marketers is all about. And I think you're going to love what we have in store. Join us next week for the first episode of Real Marketers and tweet me @ StephanieCox04 if you know a kick-ass marketer who should be a guest on the show.
